Cantor Gershon Sirota was born in the Ukraine in 1874 and lost his life in the Warsaw Ghetto during the uprising in 1943. He served as a cantor in Ukraine, Vilna, and in the synagogue in Tlomacka Street in Warsaw. He was one of the first ever to record Cantorial pieces. He visited the land of Israel twice in 1926 and in 1937. His voice is considered to be one of the greatest in the world of music and song. These recordings were made a long time ago, some over 90 years ago. We have done our utmost to neutralize background noises while keeping with the originality of the recordings, we hope that the historical value of these recordings will compensate for the quality in some of the pieces.
